Be YOUR OWN HERO
Not operating at 100%? I feel you. I’ve been there myself. I know what it’s like to be 35 pounds overweight. I’ve drowned my sorrows in crappy food and alcohol. I’ve been divorced and depressed. I’ve struggled through injuries. I’ve wasted precious time binge-watching Netflix. I’ve failed numerous times trying to kick my nicotine habit. I know how dark I feel inside when hope is lost.
Thankfully, physical fitness has always lured me out of the dark dungeon of my mind. It speaks to me: You will get through this! Get moving. Lift, take a walk, ski, stretch, breathe, get more sleep, eat healthier, etc. Allow those groovy brain chemicals to do their thing.
Do it, do it, do it.
A better headspace is right around the corner. You just have to know how to tap into it. NEVER LOSE HOPE. There is a brighter tomorrow. But you have to create it for yourself. No one is going to do it for you. Captain your ship.
Start small. Write down weekly and monthly goals, and stick to your program. Write them on posted notes and put them on your mirror, refrigerator, or any place else that you see fit. Set voice reminders on your phone that you must follow through on your workouts. Ask a friend to hold you accountable.
If you say that you’re going to work out on a certain day, then follow through no matter what. No BS excuses. If you swear that you’re not going to drink alcohol during the workweek, then don’t F-ing do it. Drink some zero-calorie fizzy water with a twist of lime to help take the edge off. Breathe. You’ll be fine.
Honor the commitments that you make to yourself. If you had a friend that repeatedly bailed on your plans you probably wouldn’t like it, right? Well, be a good friend to yourself and do something active. Love yourself. Love others. And be well. That’s all I got for you today. Carpe Diem!
